Oshodi is not just a marketplace in Lagos.

When I walked through Oshodi, I did not just see stalls and umbrellas.

I saw people chasing their dreams with bare hands and brave hearts.

Women arranging fabrics under the hot sun.

Young men learning trades instead of giving up.

Traders negotiating with smiles despite long hours and little rest.

Here, nobody waits for opportunities.

They create them.

Every small business in Oshodi carries a bigger story—

a story of families to feed, children to train, and futures to build.

Many people see chaos.

I saw courage.

Many see struggle.

I saw strength.

Oshodi reminds me that Africans are not lazy.

We are resilient.

We are hardworking.

We are creative.

With limited resources, we still build.

With daily challenges, we still rise.

This is why I tell these stories.

To change the narrative.

To honour everyday heroes.

To show the world the true spirit of Africa.

This is Oshodi.

Where hustle meets hope.

Where resilience speaks.

Through persistence, vision and an enduring belief in the continent, she has helped reshape conversations about Africa and reminded the world that no one is better placed to tell Africa's story than Africans themselves. Some people leave behind projects. Others leave behind movements. Moky Makura is building a legacy that will continue to shape how Africa is seen for generations to come.
