Our Review

Call of My Life is the kind of romantic comedy that will either make you miss your ex, believe in love again, or start wishing somebody would randomly call you and change your life completely. It is soft, funny, emotional, chaotic at some points, and honestly one of the most enjoyable Nollywood love stories in cinemas right now. Written by and starring Uzoamaka Power, the film follows Soluchi, a hopeless romantic still trying to heal from heartbreak after being left by her ex, Kalu, played by Zubby Michael. Just when life already feels emotionally exhausting for her, one ordinary work call introduces her to Eli, played by Andrew Yaw Bunting, and suddenly everything starts shifting in ways she never expected. What makes Call of My Life work so well is the chemistry between the actors. Nothing feels forced. The flirting feels natural, the emotional moments are believable, and the humour lands properly without trying too hard. The film understands romance very well. Not just the sweet parts, but also the confusion, emotional baggage, vulnerability, and fear that sometimes come with opening your heart again. The movie also has a very warm and lively atmosphere. From the dialogue to the soundtrack and the overall pacing, everything feels intentional. It keeps you entertained while still giving you characters you can emotionally connect with. One moment you are laughing, the next moment you are silently rooting for somebody to finally get the love they deserve. Another thing that stands out is how modern the story feels. Call of My Life captures the reality of present-day relationships without becoming overly dramatic. It explores heartbreak, second chances, emotional healing, friendship, and the idea that love can sometimes appear when you least expect it. Directed by Dammy Twitch in his feature film debut, Call of My Life already made a strong impression at the Nigerian box office after its May 15 cinema release, and honestly, it is easy to see why. If you love romantic comedies with real chemistry, emotional moments, playful banter, and characters that actually make you feel something, then Call of My Life is a film worth seeing in cinemas this weekend.
